Varun Thamba has been elevated as Global Vice President & Head of AI Go-To-Market at SAP, marking a significant leadership milestone in his distinguished career spanning artificial intelligence, enterprise software, cloud technologies, data & analytics, and global business strategy.

In his expanded global leadership role, Varun will lead SAP's Global AI Go-To-Market strategy, working closely with the SAP Board, strategic technology partners, customers, and the global ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of SAP Business AI, drive revenue growth, and enable enterprises worldwide to unlock business value through AI-powered transformation.

Varun brings over 12 years of leadership experience at SAP, where he has consistently driven innovation and AI-led business growth across global markets. Prior to this elevation, he served as Regional Head of Artificial Intelligence – Asia Pacific & Greater China, leading SAP's AI strategy across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Greater China, and India. Under his leadership, the region emerged as SAP's flagship AI market, driving multimillion-euro business growth and accelerating enterprise adoption of SAP Business AI and Joule capabilities.

Earlier, he served as Regional Director – Business AI & Technology Strategy, Asia Pacific & Japan, helping strategic customers leverage AI, innovation, and SAP's Business Technology Platform to maximize business outcomes. He also played a key role in bringing SAP's global technology innovations to the APJ region.

Previously, Varun held leadership positions as Director – Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence, Global Corporate Strategy Fellow, Principal Architect – Advanced Analytics & Data Strategy, and Senior Architect & Solution Engineer, where he drove enterprise data, analytics, cloud, and AI transformation initiatives while acting as a bridge between customers, engineering, and product teams.

Before joining SAP, he began his career with Bajaj Auto Ltd as a Management Trainee and completed international internships with Hyundai Motor Company, Mahindra Group, and Citi India, building early expertise in global strategy, market intelligence, and business innovation.
