Gowree Gokhale has been appointed as Independent Director on the Board of Novartis India, effective April 1, 2026, marking a significant addition to the company’s governance structure.

In this role, Gowree will provide independent oversight on complex legal frameworks, intellectual property strategy, and regulatory compliance, supporting Novartis as it navigates the evolving healthcare and regulatory landscape in India.

Gowree brings over 28 years of distinguished experience in law and strategic advisory, with deep expertise across Intellectual Property (IP), Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT), data privacy, and life sciences law.

She spent more than two decades at Nishith Desai Associates, where she led the TMT and IP practices, playing a key role in shaping landmark cross-border transactions and digital policy frameworks in India.

Gowree holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Mumbai University, further strengthening her strong legal and strategic foundation.

With her extensive experience in legal strategy, governance, and regulatory advisory, Gowree brings a powerful blend of legal expertise and strategic insight to the board.

Her appointment reflects Novartis India’s commitment to strengthening governance, enhancing regulatory oversight, and driving sustainable growth in a complex healthcare environment.
